I'm basically trained as a guitarist even though I play a range of other instruments (recorder, flute, tin whistle, piano, mandolin and ukulele). From compulsory recorder playing in school, I moved on to the guitar in my early teens, studying with F. La Macchia and Å. Blomér in my home town of Gothenburg, Sweden. I participated in master classes with J. Duarte, J. Mills and G. Söllscher and later studied with E. Sainz de la Maza in Barcelona. I also have a degree from the University of Gothenburg in musicology where I specialized in film music.
Since then I've been active as a guitar teacher, soloist and have played in many different ensembles (flute/guitar, guitar duos, trios and quartets, and a bluegrass band!).
I love the great classics by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and also early modern music by Debussy, Ravel, Korngold, Milhaude, Hindemith and Stravinsky. But I also have a soft spot for jazz and Swedish and Irish folk music. I've been arranging and composing for the guitar and other instruments since my late teens.
I've also had a career in advertising as a copywriter and graphic designer.
My goal is a perfect score! I hope all my arrangements and compositions are error free and enjoyable to play!

For more than twenty years, Randal G. (RG) Rhoades has been an active music educator, performer, composer and arranger. Prior to his graduation from Indiana University of PA (BS Music Education) his mentors included Edward F. McGuire (author of the book Guitar Fingerboard Harmony formerly published by Mel Bay) and Irwin Kauffman (cellist for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra).
In addition to his private music studio, Mr. Rhoades has teaching responsibilities at the Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA. It is here that he conducts a guitar ensemble, for which he arranges most of the repertoire.
Mr. Rhoades is active in distance education, too. He is currently an adjunct instructor for Harrisburg Area Community College, where he oversees two classes in the Music Business curriculum, both of which he teaches over the Internet.
His varied musical interests include music technology and, as a result, he has assembled a rather extensive MIDI studio where he has composed and recorded four volumes of instrumental production music tracks for use by magicians and other stage entertainers under the series of Magician’s Easy Edit Music Kit. Mr. Rhoades has extensive experience in the use of music notation software, having prepared simple lead sheets, choral octavos and complete orchestral scores.
Performance is yet another aspect of his musical career. Although trained as a classic guitarist, Mr. Rhoades is a multi-instrumentalist, performing on classic, acoustic, and electric guitar, electric bass, banjo and mandolin, most frequently in pit orchestras of local high school or community theater productions. However, his playing experience does include performances with two excellent local symphony orchestras in Harrisburg and York, PA.
